On May 4, The Art Institute of Portland celebrated May The Fourth Be With You, a day commemorating the "Star Wars" movies and their cultural influence. Ai Portland students dressed in Star Wars-inspired attire, spoke like Yoda (“Going to school today, you are!”), and participated in activities, such as Let the Wookie Win ("Star Wars" Solo Trivia), Admiral Ackbar’s Snackbar, and Guess Who ("Star Wars" edition).

Between taking pictures with a cutout of Darth Vader and wielding plastic light sabers at each other or at imaginary Siths, students snacked on Wookie Cookies, Obi-Wan Kabob-ies (fruit kabobs), Sandtrooper Sandies, and Kylo Cake, and drank Jedi Juice and Vader-Ade.

The celebration reminded students that Good always won against Evil, as long as the force was with them. Judging by the students’ enthusiasm and boundless love for the "Star Wars" myth, they all lived with the force in them. For a day, they were not only Creative Warriors, but Creative Jedi, and hoped that Yoda was wrong when he said in "Star Wars V: The Empire Strikes Back," “You must unlearn what you have learned [at Ai Portland].”
