The Art Institute of Washington Supports Two Local High Schools with Adopt a Classroom Program
May 18, 2017
The Art Institute of Washington, a branch of The Art Institute of Atlanta, donated to Langston Brown High School in Arlington, VA and Fredrick Douglass High School in Upper Marlboro, MD through AdoptAClassroom.org, an annual partnership with the national nonprofit that raises funds for teachers.
The monetary donations will be used to buy art supplies for the teachers’ classrooms.
According to AdoptAClassroom.org, more than 15 million children don’t have the resources they need to succeed in school. The organization adds that teachers spend more than $1.6 billion a year stocking their own classrooms due to a lack of funding in schools. Representatives from The Art Institute of Washington hosted a breakfast for Fredrick Douglass and a pizza party for Langston Brown as teachers from both schools and their classes were in attendance.
