The Art Institute of Washington Welcomes Jim Palermo as Campus President

[Washington DC September 5, 2013] The Art Institute of Washington, a branch of The Art Institute of Atlanta, is proud to welcome James Palermo as its new campus president.
“I am excited to be at back at The Art Institute of Washington, a branch I was very passionate about when I opened it back in 2000,” said President Palermo. “After several years in leadership positions across The Art Institutes, I am glad to be working directly with faculty and staff again to support our students in achieving their educational goals.”
President Palermo brings more than 20 years of experience in higher education to The Art Institute of Washington. He began his career with The Art Institutes system of schools in 1991 as vice president and director of admissions at The Art Institute of Philadelphia. He has since served as a successful leader in numerous capacities from president of several campuses to his most recent position as group vice president for The Art Institutes.
His passion and lifelong commitment to education has led him to serve as both an administrator and trustee at numerous organizations. Board positions include: director, Advanced Skills Center (now under the umbrella of the York Campus of HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College); trustee, The Art Institutes International Minnesota; director, Virginia Career Colleges Association; director, Rosslyn Renaissance in Arlington, Virginia; and director, Rosslyn Business Improvement Corporation, also in Arlington.
President Palermo holds a bachelor of arts in psychology from State University of New York, College at Potsdam, in Potsdam, New York.
