Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fashion Design from Miami International University of Art and Design
September 30, 2016
Mimmy Begazo and Maria D’Ocon, Fashion Design students at Miami International University of Art & Design, were recently featured on Telemundo Network’s Un Nuevo Día. The students talked about their collections created for New York Fashion Week, including their designs and inspiration.
Born in Spain, Maria was exposed to European history, art and diverse cultural influences. Immersed in this eclectic and vibrant environment, a dream to create art in motion developed. Maria moved to Miami to focus on a career in fashion and was recently selected to intern at the prestigious bridal house Pronovias in Barcelona. Her most recent collection “Destination” was inspired by the architectural influence of Spain’s cosmopolitan cities along with the beauty of the rugged Spanish countryside.
Born in Peru, Mimmy tries to design looks that are feminine yet unconventional. She was recently accepted to attend a Masterclass in Paris and her collection “Destination Beyond” is an avant-garde solution to pair design with technology by blocking waves from electronic devices. The designs offer a contrasting use of cowhide hair foiled in silver which give a transitioning point from natural primitive shielding to the fabrics and technology we face today. Innovative but easy to wear, her collection is meant to showcase how fashion can merge with our needs for the future.
Both students are working toward a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fashion Design at Miami International University of Art & Design.
