Call for Entries: The Art Institutes Takes to the Runway at New York Fashion Week

For the past four years, students and graduates of The Art Institutes system of schools have taken to the runway at New York Fashion Week—one of the most prestigious fashion events of the year. And for the upcoming Spring/Summer 2017 show, which will take place in September 2016, we’re looking for eight designers to represent our schools on the runway.

This opportunity is open to current students (who have completed at least 40% of credits needed for graduation) or graduates of either a Bachelor or Associate level Fashion Design or Apparel Design program. All submissions will be reviewed and judged by a panel of respected fashion designers and professionals in New York City, and eight designers will be chosen to show six looks on the runway. Submissions are judged based on concept, quality, showmanship, and practicality for showing.

To learn more about the New York Fashion Week opportunity, please contact the Fashion Academic Director at The Art Institute school you’re attending, or graduated from. Each school may submit two auditions for consideration by the judging panel.

Interested designers must meet one of the following eligibility requirements to audition for the show:

  • Be a current student enrolled in a Bachelor or Associate level Fashion Design or Apparel Design program at an Art Institutes school. The student must be is in good standing and have successfully completed at least 40% of the credits needed for graduation in their program.
  • Be a graduate who completed a Bachelor or Associate level Fashion Design or Apparel Design degree at an Art Institutes school between June 2015 and June 2016.
  • To be considered for this opportunity, you cannot have shown during any previous Art Institutes New York Fashion Week shows, as an individual or as part of a design group.
