Carl Wilde Mackey, who is working toward a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fashion Design at The Illinois Institute of Art—Chicago, was recently chosen to participate in Pins and Needles fashion design competition. The winner will be announced on August 10, 2017 and earns a $15,000 grand prize.
The mission of Pins and Needles is to assist emerging designers, whether they’re still in school, have just graduated, or are working on their first collection for retail sale. Pins and Needles creates a support system for young designers, helping them to embrace originality and launch their careers.
Pins and Needles was created by Brainchild Events, a group that describes itself as “see[ing] fashion as art that both influences and is influenced by the powerful cross currents of music, contemporary culture, history, street culture, fine art, illustration, architecture, graphic design, performance art and dance.”
The event will be held on August 10, 2017 at Majorette, 7150 Manchester Ave, St. Louis, Missouri.
