Culinary Students Battle for the Title of Top Dish

On April 12, 2018, twelve culinary students from eleven different Art Institute campuses across the country will come together to face off in The Meal Through the Arts, a culinary showcase competition highlighting the students’ original recipes.
This national event will take place at The Stave Room in Atlanta, GA, where the student finalists will prepare a canapé, salad, entrée, or dessert to be critiqued by members of a live audience and by a panel of accomplished culinary professionals. The winning student from each category will earn a $5,000 tuition scholarship toward their culinary program.
The four winning recipes will also be used to create an exclusive four-course meal served at every Ai student-run restaurant across the country during the week of May 14–18, 2018. For every meal purchased during that time, The Art Institutes will make a donation to the national nonprofit campaign, No Kid Hungry.
“This competition not only provides an avenue for our culinary students to showcase their skills in recipe creation and gain experience in a competition environment but to use their talents to be part of something larger than themselves – helping the fight against childhood hunger,” said Chef David Hendricksen, CCE, CCC, National Culinary Director at The Art Institutes.
