Deaf Culinary Bowl Held on Campus

The 9th annual Deaf Culinary Bowl competition was held on March 10, 2018, at The Art Institute of California—San Francisco, a campus of Argosy University. In total, teams from seven Schools for the Deaf participated, including two schools from California along with others from Texas, Connecticut, Florida, Colorado, and Kentucky.

Teams composed of six Deaf high school students competed to demonstrate their culinary creativity, skills, and teamwork. Each team prepared three courses—an appetizer, an entrée, and a dessert based on a shared theme. At the banquet following the competition, The California School for the Deaf, Fremont team was named the overall first place winner for the event.

Over the years, several of the high school competitors from the Deaf Culinary Bowls have continued on to pursue a culinary education and careers, with their competition experiences influencing their decision to further their culinary skills, and our school was both proud and excited to be a part of this year’s event.
