Fashion Students Head to Market with Holly Mosher
Womenswear Market Recap
In April 2017 several of the Fashion students at The Art Institute of Michigan worked the Metro Michigan Womenswear Market at the Livonia Embassy Suites. The Michigan Women's Wear Market is a wholesale fashion trade show event for retail store owners and buyers. Established in 1931, the designers and independent sales reps exhibiting at MWWM have the leading brands and latest trends in women’s and men’s apparel, jewelry, accessories, gifts, and footwear. This first-rate, well established show is produced five times a year and show dates correlate to the pre-season wholesale buying timeline.
The students were able to work for Sales Representatives from the Chicago apparel mart. They set up the trade show booths with visual displays, sold product to buyers, wrote purchase orders utilizing retail math skills, and used fashion styling skills to sell and merchandise.
“This is an amazing internship that I, Holly Mosher an Adjunct Faculty member, is able to offer my students 5 times a year.”
The fashion students that participated in the market were Bachelor of Arts, Fashion Marketing & Management students, Jaella Boines, Summier Dye, Breauna Marion,Taylor Bryant, Raven Fisher and Andre Thompson, and Associate of Applied Science, Fashion Merchandising student Tamika Magruder.
