“I've come a long way since scribbling on my parents’ walls as a child,” says Steven Tarin, a lead generalist-environments at DreamWorks Animation. Like many kids, Steven dreamed of bringing his imagination to life as a movie or cartoon. Today, his dedication to the craft of animation inspires a new generation of children. Steven’s film credits include “Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness,” “Penguins of Madagascar,” “Fanboy & Chum Chum,” “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” and “Monsters vs. Aliens.” “What I love most [about my career] is conceptualizing my thoughts and ideas, then making them come to life through visual storytelling.”

Steven began his career as an animation cleanup artist, working his way up to his current position through determination and ongoing learning. He pushed himself to learn new technology and gained a broader understanding of CG animation production. Along the way, Steven worked at Nickelodeon and Rocket Baby—two of the most respected companies in the industries—before joining DreamWorks Animation.

Steven says that his education exposed him to artistic diversity and taught him essential critical thinking skills. When it comes to being a success in animation, Steven practices what he preaches—hard work, dedication, and keeping on top of trends. “Don’t be lazy, because there is always some else who wants to succeed as much as you.”
