Hollywood Campus Recap - Entertainment Management Seminar with Sonja Norwood
October 14, 2016
Recently, The Art Institute of California—Hollywood, a campus of Argosy University, held an Entertainment Management seminar. Over 60 attendees listened to music manager Sonja Norwood’s lecture on the ins and outs of the industry--including how to have a relationship with your manager, how to be a manager, and the role that marketing and management plays in the industry.
Norwood invited her son and daughter, professional singers Brandy and Ray J, to share their experiences and talk about how they navigated film, TV, music, and other creative parts of the industry.
Roy Liebrech, an entertainment attorney, talked about legal contracts while casting director Leah Daniels discussed getting work in the industry—and the role a manager plays.
During the event, Bachelor of Science in Audio Production student Javed Ortega was chosen to come to the front of the room—and was presented as an example of how to “show up for success.” He was dressed professionally, was prepared with pen and notebook, and he asked questions. His preparedness earned him an individual consulting session with Sonja Norwood.
