Houston Culinary Students Work Alongside The Royal Chef
November 8, 2016
Recently, culinary students from The Art Institute of Houston assisted “The Royal Chef,” Darren McGrady. The students assisted Royal Chef as he prepared braised short ribs and pureed parsnips.
Chef McGrady was in Houston for the event, “Zest in the West,” where West Houston restaurants competed for the Best of Zest Culinary Awards. The Art Institute of Houston participated as a competing restaurant and was also an event sponsor.
Chef McGrady was the personal chef to Queen Elizabeth II, Diana, Princess of Wales and Princes William and Harry for fifteen years. He’s cooked for Presidents Ford, Reagan, Bush, and Clinton. Chef McGrady is also an author, culinary consultant, event planner, and public speaker who lives in Dallas, Texas. His first cookbook, “Eating Royally; Recipes and Remembrances from a Palace Kitchen” is in its sixth edition. All proceeds from the cookbook are donated to the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids Foundation.
