Houston Fashion Students Upcycle Garments

Recently, seven students from The Art Institute of Houston represented the “college division” of the sustainable up-cycling competition, Catwalks & Classrooms. This was the second year that The Art Institute of Houston participated in the event. Students were challenged with the task of up-cycling materials and accessories. They had to completely alter a garment’s original design into a ready to wear garment. The finished garments will be on display at a runway show on October 12, 2016 and scholarships will be awarded to the top two designers.
