Inland Empire Campus Presents Hands-on Camera Assembly Workshop
June 7, 2018
The Art Institute of California—Inland Empire, a campus of Argosy University, recently hosted a workshop for students in the Film & Production areas of study. The event featured Johnny Cloward, studio manager for Redefine Rentals.
Redefine is based in Redlands, California and provides studio equipment rentals to professionals and students. Cloward showed students how to assemble one of Redefine’s most popular cameras from scratch.
“Red Cameras are all module,” he stated. “You have to build it out; it’s why our cameras are known.” He assembled the camera and showed the class the camera parts as he worked.
He then presented a series of short films created by his production team. Cloward also emphasized the importance of teamwork to get a project completed on time. He touched on his experience with full-service projects, mentioning that each team member has an important part to play—from audio techs, producers and directors to the crew that assembles and takes down the equipment.
