On May 9, 2018, The Art Institute of California — Inland Empire, a campus of Argosy University, hosted a screening of the award-winning documentary, Mona Lisa is Missing, in which our Digital Filmmaking & Video Production students were able to watch the movie and then interact with the producers and director (Joe & Justine Medeiros) following the film.

Filmed in Italy, the documentary tells the story of a house painter who pulls off what is believed to be the greatest little-known art heist of modern time. Writer-Director Joe Medeiros traces the path of Vincenzo Perrugia, the painting’s thief, and finds the story of a daughter mourning a father she never knew, driven by a desire to learn the motive of his actions.

During the Q&A, our Digital Filmmaking & Video Production students asked the producer and director about what was needed to make the film, how long making the film took, what inspired them to create the movie, and what it takes to become a filmmaker.

Aside from the film, the students enjoyed a cinema snack table that included freshly made popcorn provided by Student Services & Campus Relations and an array of beverages.
