Ai Fort Lauderdale Interior Design Instructor Nominated to Receive ASID Educator Medalist Award

Jan Merle, an Interior Design Faculty member at The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, was recently nominated by the South Florida Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) to receive the prestigious national ASID Educator Medalist Award.

Bestowed yearly, the ASID Medalist award recognizes members and partners who have demonstrated outstanding service to ASID, have provided significant contributions to the interior design profession, and have made significant contributions that have enriched the human experience. This award is bestowed as Medalist, Honorary Medalist, and Educator Medalist.

Jan Merle

Merle has been with Ai Fort Lauderdale since 2004. His classroom instruction includes courses in residential design, commercial design, and building and mechanical systems. Merle is highly involved in the South Florida interior design community and participates in numerous industry events. He is an active member of ASID, the Interior Design Educators Council, and the US Green Building Council. 

The ASID committee will select award winners in May 2018 and honor those selected at The Leadership Experience summit on July 19, 2018. 

ASID is an organization made up interior design educators and practitioners and believes design impacts lives. Through education, knowledge sharing, advocacy, community building and outreach, ASID strives to advance the interior design profession and, in the process, to demonstrate and celebrate the power of design to positively change people’s lives.
