Sacramento Campus is Host to AAF District 14 National Student Advertising Competition

Recently, The Art Institute of California—Sacramento, a campus of Argosy University, hosted the American Advertising Federation’s (AAF) District 14 National Student Advertising Competition (NSAC). Four schools from Northern California and Northern Nevada were in attendance.

The competing students must research, plan, and execute an advertising strategy that’s requested by a national sponsor. The 2017 sponsor was Tai Pei Frozen Foods. Participating colleges send a team of students, who are then provided with creative brief from the sponsor. They must then create an advertising strategy and creative.  Four principals from each team then present to a panel of three judges.

The judges included Ryan Keller, creative director for IGT; Scot Crocker, co-owner of Crocker & Crocker; and Ryan Brijs, the Sacramento Kings’ creative director. The winners move on to compete at the regional level against 15 other district winners from across the nation. The finals take place at the annual AAF national conference, to be held this June in New Orleans.

Judge Ryan Keller is a graduate of The Illinois Institute of Art—Chicago, one of The Art Institutes. He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Multimedia & Web Design in 2004.
