Miami International University of Art & Design’s Mimmy Begazo, was interviewed for a fashion segment that recently aired on Univision. Mimmy showcased her “Destination Beyond” collection that she premiered at New York Fashion Week. Collections by Rene Mejia and Maria D’Ocon were also featured on the show. Rene said he was inspired by the “Ballet Rehearsal,” an 1873 painting by Edgar Degas. The painting shows a beautiful soft pallet that influenced the colors as well as the silhouettes and fabrics that Rene used in this collection.

Maria said she pulled inspiration from her Spanish heritage. Exposed to art, history, and cultural influences as a child, she always dreamed to design wearable art

Mimmy and Maria are working toward a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fashion Design at Miami International University of Art & Design. René Mejia is working toward a Bachelor of Science in Fashion Design at The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale.
