Charlotte Student Chosen for NASCAR Diversity Internship Program
August 8, 2016
New Jersey native Michael Fernandez, who is working toward a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic & Web Design at The Art Institute of Charlotte, a campus of South University, was selected to participate in the 2016 NASCAR Diversity Internship Program (NDIP).
NASCAR chose only 26 individuals from across the country and internationally to be a part of the program. Michael is a member of the Design Command Club and was the recipient of the 48-Hour Design Scholarship at The Art Institute of Charlotte. He’s utilizing his skill sets in NASCAR’s creative design department and will return to The Art Institute of Charlotte when the internship concludes.
NDIP is a 10-week long paid internship that offers students from diverse backgrounds the opportunity to gain hands-on experience within their fields. As part of the program, Michael received guided tours of the NASCAR Research & Development Center, NASCAR Hall of Fame, and Charlotte Motor Speedway—and had the opportunity to watch the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race.
