Acclaimed film director Spike Lee spoke to students at The Art Institute of California – Los Angeles, a campus of Argosy University, on Friday February 28th. In town for the Academy Awards, he generously took two hours out of his hectic schedule to answer any and every question posed by the standing-room-only crowd of students and faculty. Before his arrival, Spike's movie "25th Hour" was screened. When the lights came up, David Schreiber, Director of Media Arts, introduced his former film school classmate; and Spike fielded questions about his approach to filmmaking, the challenges he had to overcome upon graduating from film school, and what qualities helped him persist and rise to the top of his profession. Lee tailored his responses to today's art students and how the professional challenges have changed since he was in school. He then posed for photos with the students. Spike's new movie, "Da Sweet Blood of Jesus" is scheduled for a Fall 2014 release.
