Photography Student Nate Gowdy’s Image of Bernie Sanders on Cover of TIME Magazine

Nate Gowdy, who is working toward a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Digital Photography at The Art Institute of Seattle, took the photo of Bernie Sanders that is featured on the June 6, 2016 cover of TIME Magazine.

Nate’s career goal is to get into the journalism field. He’s been working on his bachelor’s degree by taking one or two courses per quarter—while also shooting photos and building up his portfolio of work. He took two quarters off from school to cover the candidates—self-funding his trip on the campaign trail.

The presidential primaries provided him with an opportunity to travel and capture important moments as the candidates moved from state to state during the presidential primaries.
