“Trendy Traders” program donates to Covenant House Fort Lauderdale
March 18, 2016
Fashion students at The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale recently participated in the “Trendy Traders” program—resulting in a donation of $160 and 30 bags of clothing to the Covenant House of Fort Lauderdale.
Sponsored by the school’s Fashion department, “Trendy Traders” takes place each quarter. The program allows students and staff to purchase gently-worn clothing for just $1. Students gathered the used clothing items and sold them every Tuesday during the month of February. The project aims to help students learn the fundamentals of fashion retailing, from product supply to marketing and sales.
The Covenant House is a shelter for run-away and homeless children. The money donated will help to support programming for the organization while the clothes will go directly to the children living in the shelter.
Trendy Traders was recently featured on WSVN’s Deco Drive for its unique combination of learning and charity. View the story here: http://www.wsvn.com/story/31154919/trendy-traders.
