Culinaire Restaurant

Culinaire Restaurant is the student-run restaurant at The International Culinary School at The Art Institute of Washington. Located just across the river from Washington, DC, Culinaire Restaurant provides our culinary students with real-world experience and instructional content—and provides diners with a unique culinary experience.

Under the supervision of Chef Michael Roll and an experienced and credentialed faculty of chef instructors, students create bistro-style dishes in the kitchen and run all aspects of the dining room. From food ordering and preparation to guest seating and serving, Culinaire Restaurant is a complete instructional environment for students that offers a quality dining experience to its patrons.

Culinaire Restaurant is open to the public; hours and the menu change quarterly. Please call 703-247-3841 for our hours and to make a reservation.

Students and Faculty Support Wounded Warrior Project Students and Faculty Support Wounded Warrior Project

Several students and faculty members from The Art Institute of Washington, a branch of The Art Institute of Atlanta, participated in the Wounded Warrior cycling ride at The White House on April 14, 2016.

The mission of Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) is to honor and empower Wounded Warriors. WWP's purpose is to raise awareness and to enlist the public's aid for the needs of injured service members, to help injured servicemen and women aid and assist each other, and to provide unique, direct programs and services to meet their needs.

School Hosts Welcome Week Dinner for Students School Hosts Welcome Week Dinner for Students

On April 7, 2016, The Art Institute of Washington, a branch of The Art Institute of Atlanta, hosted an evening dinner during welcome week for current students. The event took place at Culinaire, an in-house student run restaurant. The buffet style offerings, prepared by Culinary Arts Program Director Chef Michael Roll, included: Caesar Salad, Chicken With Alfredo Sauce On Pasta, Lasagna, and Blueberry Cobbler.

(Arlington, November 2015) The Art Institute of Washington, a branch of The Art Institute of Atlanta celebrated the giving spirit of the holiday with a community Thanksgiving lunch at Arlington Temple United Methodist Church. They served approximately 70 plates of Thanksgiving fare to local homeless and/or disadvantaged. The Executive Committee, volunteers from Student Affairs and the culinary faculty came together to make the event a success.

The Art Institute of Michigan Teams Up with the Rachael Ray Show to Provide Cooking Lessons The Art Institute of Michigan Teams Up with the Rachael Ray Show to Provide Cooking Lessons

The Art Institute of Michigan is teaming up with the Rachael Ray Show to provide cooking lessons to the students enrolled at Downtown Boxing Gym Youth Program. During filming of the Rachael Ray Show’s Thanksgiving episode, on Monday, November 16, Ray unveiled a completely renovated kitchen for the students, complete with new appliances and a study space. To help Downtown Boxing Gym Youth Program get the most out of this new kitchen, The Art Institute of Michigan is going to provide four lessons/demos on healthy eating and nutrition at the gym throughout the next year. 

Three culinary instructors from The Art Institute of Michigan appeared on the show to announce the gift of the cooking lessons, and the episode will air Wednesday, November 25.
