The Art Institute of Atlanta Participates in Dragon Con 2017

Dragon Con is one of Atlanta’s biggest conventions of the year. Fans travel from around the country and abroad to experience 4 days of cosplay characters, panel discussions, fan tracks, art shows, and, of course, the parade! Each year, the number of Con attendees increases dramatically. We are so proud to say The Art Institute of Atlanta was among the list of participating organizations and proudly represented the campus brand and student work.

The Ai Atlanta team engaged and networked with neighboring organizations including the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Aliens Legacy and Ghostbusters fan tables, Access Now, and Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF). Additionally, the Ai Atlanta team interacted with Dragon Con attendees and prospective students interested in learning more about the campus. With the high-level energy and amazing student work showcased at the Ai Atlanta table, the team did a great job to communicate their enjoyment of engaging with and giving back to the community, and PROUD of the wonderful work our students and graduates create.

Compliments were given by Art Institutes alumni who were amazed at the student work on display. Many were impressed at the level of professionalism and skill set of our students. For the first time back in years, the team did a wonderful job to elevate and enhance The Art Institutes brand. "I REALLY enjoyed this opportunity,” stated Media Arts & Animation (BFA) student Audrey Everett. She further states, “It was an honor to be chosen to represent the school and promote myself as an up-and-coming graduate in Media Arts & Animation at Ai Atlanta. I had a blast and it made my first-time Dragon Con experience WORTH IT!"

“The students who participated in Dragon Con are at the top of their classes, very engaging, and represent the media arts program very well,” said Ola Gardner, Institutional Program Chair for Media Arts.

Special thanks to Assistant Director of Admissions Quinisha Story for creating an amazing display table. The decorations she selected along with the placement of student work really impacted our visibility at Dragon Con.

Dragon Con presented a wonderful opportunity to showcase the collaborative partnerships throughout the campus by way of academics, admissions, and students. Assistant Director of Admissions Vaughn Phipps mentioned, “We have shown via teamwork that with unity and collaboration success is guaranteed.”
