Atlanta Culinary Students Who Are Members of The Armed Forces Cook at Bloomingdale’s
December 20, 2016
Recently, culinary students and staff from The Art Institute of Atlanta were at Bloomingdale’s Lenox Square home store, cooking up a selection of recipes designed by culinary students who are also members of the armed forces. Many of the recipes offered creative twists on all-American favorites like apple cobbler, grits, and black-eyed peas. The students presented live demonstrations on how to prepare their culinary creations and allowed guests to sample dishes.
As part of this culinary project, The Art Institute of Atlanta has created a series of six recipe cards. Each card features a recipe created by a student service member and includes their name and branch of service. The complete series of recipe cards were made available at the Bloomingdale’s cooking event.
The students were featured on CBS46 Atlanta for their culinary demonstrations.
In addition to the culinary experience, school highlighted two vintners who are also veteran members of the armed forces—Mercer Estates, the 2016 Washington Winery of the Year owned by veteran Robert Mercer, and Rally Point Wines, owned by veteran Tim Burgess, presented samples of wines from each estate for guests.
