As an artist, one never knows the possibilities of exhibiting work without stepping outside of the box and asking for the opportunity to shine. Just ask Media Arts & Animation (BFA) student Malik Roberts.

Earlier this spring, Malik exhibited his drawings for guests to color at the Museum of Contemporary Art- Georgia (MOCA-GA). This event not only allowed Roberts to showcase his characters, Ernest and Mac, it provided him with a valuable networking opportunity with the city’s art community. According to Roberts, “It was literally on the spur of the moment…I was on social media and I saw a post that said there was a mix-mingle thing going on soon…so I took a chance on it.” By submitting his interest to the MOCA-GA ambassadors through social media, Roberts was given the chance to attend the event and introduce his work.
“The event was a good way to introduce a commercially viable product to a more highbrow, art-minded audience," stated Roberts. “I found people interested in collaborating on an idea….that I’ve been toying with for about ten years.”
What an amazing story! Congratulations to Malik for taking bold steps to build his brand!
