The Art Institute of Atlanta Thanksgiving with The Atlanta Mission
December 7, 2015
(Atlanta, December 2015) The Art Institute of Atlanta partnered with entertainment executive and philanthropist Shanti Das, Grammy-award winning producer Teddy Riley and actress Keshia Knight Pulliam for the 2015 ‘No Reservations Needed’ Food Drive and Dinner benefiting The Atlanta Mission.
The Art Institute of Atlanta kicked-off the holiday season by hosting a food drive on campus from November 16 – 23, 2015. In addition, members from the executive committee donated canned foods to the official ‘No Reservations Needed’ food drive at Walmart on November 21, 2015.
On November 24, 2015, our executive committee, faculty and staff continued their yearly tradition of serving 300 students a Thanksgiving lunch. Later that day, eight campus leaders joined 100 volunteers in the Atlanta community to serve The Atlanta Mission homeless shelter. Approximately 450 men were treated to a day of grooming by local Atlanta barbers. Shortly after, the special guests were served a delicious Thanksgiving dinner prepared by Atlanta volunteers and The Art Institute of Atlanta culinary department headed by Chef Gallivan. Dinner included turkey, ham, stuffing, side dishes and sweet desserts. The Art Institute of Atlanta faculty and staff members on site included: President Myvett, Calvin Brown, Michael Dixon, Shane Patilla, Letherio Zeigler, Vivian Chavez, Angela Watts and Konanga Samuel.
The Art Institute of Atlanta was mentioned on V-103 radio. Community partners included: The Atlanta Mission, Walmart, V-103, WAOK News & Talk, Kamp Kizzy and Four Blend.
