Organizes Client Meetings and Enjoys the Creativity of Interior Design

Anne-Spencer Kendrick is a project manager at Pineapple House Interior Design in Atlanta, Georgia. She organizes client meetings, follows up with purchase orders, and says that every day brings something different. “Landing my job at Pineapple House while finishing up my last quarter of school was a huge blessing,” she says. “I was extremely busy but I knew I was in the right place.”

Anne-Spencer believes that it’s important to stay challenged as a designer. She joined the American Society for Interior Designers (ASID) to make new connections. While she admits that there are always challenges in the design world, she says it’s important to stay focused and keep moving forward. “Oftentimes a designer will have his or her heart set on a specific design element and it doesn’t work out. But there are endless alternative options.”

She adds that her education taught her the importance of working ahead and staying organized. “It also taught me to maintain positive relationships with people that I encounter every day in the professional world.”

Anne-Spencer, who in 2017 earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design from The Art Institute of Atlanta, encourages current students to stay inspired and leave their comfort zones. “Try new things, whether it’s interning for a new firm or going to an art museum. Never get comfortable and you will continue to stay inspired. The end result is always worth the struggle.”
