John Lay was recently named president of The New England Institute of Art. Lay has been with the school for 16 years, starting as an adjunct faculty member. He moved into the position of Audio Production program career advisor before becoming the director of career services—a job he held for 10 years.

Dr. David Warren Named as College President

The Board of Trustees of The New England Institute of Art today announced the appointment of Dr. David Warren to the position of President. Warren, who assumes the role on May 10, comes to the creative-arts college from The Art Institute of New York City where he served as President since 2008.The Board of Trustees of The New England Institute of Art today announced the appointment of Dr. David Warren to the position of President. Warren, who assumes the role on May 10, comes to the creative-arts college from The Art Institute of New York City where he served as President since 2008.He joined The Art Institute of New York City after holding the position of Vice President for Operations at Post University in Waterbury Connecticut, a position he assumed after seven years with University of Phoenix. He began working for University of Phoenix in 1997 as Director of Academic Affairs in Honolulu, Hawaii. He moved to Massachusetts in October 2000 as part of the integral management team for the start up of the Greater Boston Campus.From there he assumed the Campus Director Position for the University of Phoenix in Pittsburgh, a position he held through 2004.“We are extremely pleased about the appointment of Dr. Warren as the next President of The New England Institute of Art,” says Stacy L. Sweeney, who is serving as the College’s Interim President. “We know that Dr. Warren’s proven record of developing successful leaders and cultivating teams will truly be an inspiration to the campus community in supporting our students’ success.”Warren earned his Doctor of Management in Organizational Leadership from the University of Phoenix in Arizona and his Master of Public Administration from Brigham Young University. He holds a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the United States Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island and earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Norwich University in Northfield, Vermont.He is a Lieutenant Colonel (retired) of the United States Army, where he served for 20 years.
