Greg Wade, who in 2009 earned an Associate of Applied Science in Culinary Arts from The Illinois Institute of Art—Chicago, was recently nominated for a prestigious James Beard Foundation Award. Wade was nominated in the category of Outstanding Baker. The award celebrates a chef or baker who prepares breads, pastries or desserts in a retail bakery, and who serves as a national standard-bearer of excellence. The winner must have at least five years of experience as a baker or pastry chef for at least five years.

Wade works at Publican Quality Bread in Chicago and is a first-time nominee for the award. The 2017 winners will be announced at a gala event set for May 1 at Chicago's Lyric Opera House. Actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson from ABC’s award-winning show "Modern Family" will host the event.
