Veterans Dinner

Memorial Day, a day to remember the ones that made the ultimate sacrifice. It is also the backdrop for a special event held by The Art Institute of Colorado’s Senior Culinary class. Ninety percent of the class are Veterans, and they wanted to use their class practicum as a platform to remember the ones they lost and the ones still here. The students looked forward to serving not only a delicious meal, but adding an Art Show, as well. This allowed the Culinary Seniors a way to bring more interest to the dinner, and Veteran students from other programs an opportunity to show their work.

The Senior Practicum also came with a special surprise. Noel Blandon, Bachelor of Arts in Food & Beverage Management, one of the leads of the senior class, reached out to Jim Stevens, a Local veteran and member of the VFW Post 1, who delivered the Key Note Speech for the evening. Mr. Blandon said, “I just knew that everyone at this event would be as inspired as I was." He further stated, “Mr. Stevens' speech caused inspiration to flow amongst the students and guests alike."

Between the amazing food, and the special artwork on display, attendees could feel the camaraderie and the ideas flowing from person to person. In the end, the seniors have outdone themselves, serving up an amazing meal that everyone enjoyed. This was also a great way to give back to the Veterans of the VFW Post 1 and honor their service to our great country. Congratulations to the Seniors of the class for presenting an amazing meal, and thank you to every Veteran that came to the dinner.
