[The Art Institute of Michigan] helped me learn how to be diverse with my creativity. It also [prepared] me for designing in the professional world.

Marcella Brown is working as a product design engineer for Chrysler in Auburn Hills, Michigan. She works with a team of engineers and designers to create badging for all Chrysler vehicles. “I love being able to see a car go from lines on a piece of paper to a clay model to a complete car that customers can buy. Being a part of that process is very rewarding.”
She’s proud to have worked directly on several vehicles that were part of the 2013 Woodward Dream Cruise, the 2013 International Car Show, and the 2013 SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) Show in Las Vegas. Marcella is inspired by Alphonse Mucha and the art nouveau period. “I love the fluidity of the art, as well as the colors that you find in many art nouveau pieces,” she says.
Marcella, who in 2014 earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Communications from The Art Institute of Michigan, says that her education taught her to be diverse with her creativity. “It also helped me [prepare] for designing in the professional world. She adds that the next big trend in her industry might be a return to the past. “I have been noticing styles that are reminiscent of the 1920s. I think that the next big trends in design are vintage styles.”
