Chef’s Palette Café and Grill

Chef's Palette Café and Grill is a student-run restaurant that's open to the public. Located at The International Culinary School at The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, Chef's Palette Café and Grill serves as the dining lab for students in the culinary program, offering a unique combination of real-world experience and instructional content. In 2005, Chef's Palette Café and Grill won an American Culinary Federation Achievement of Excellence award.

Culinary students nourish and delight patrons while taking the final steps on their path to becoming culinary professionals. From food ordering and preparation to guest seating and serving, Chef's Palette Café and Grill is a complete instructional environment for students that offers a quality dining experience to its patrons.

Fort Lauderdale Culinary Student Earns Heiko Dobrikow Board of Trustee Scholarship Fort Lauderdale Culinary Student Earns Heiko Dobrikow Board of Trustee Scholarship

Kimberly Barry, who is working toward an Associate of Science in Baking & Pastry The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, was recently recognized as the second winner of The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale’s Heiko Dobrikow Board of Trustee Scholarship. 

The recently established Heiko Dobrikow Board of Trustee Scholarship is a series of four $1,000 scholarships for culinary students currently enrolled at The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale. Named in honor of The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale’s Board of Trustee member Heiko Dobrikow, the award honors outstanding culinary students for their academic achievements and career ambitions

Dobrikow, the scholarship’s benefactor, presented the award to Barry. She was selected because of her outstanding volunteer work and community involvement on behalf of The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale.

Recently, students and faculty from The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale’s Fashion Department hosted the annual spring fashion show titled “Galleria of Fashion.” Held at the Galleria Mall, more than 100 guests were in attendance to see fashion designs created by the budding designers.

The event opened with a VIP reception featuring food and wine with a chance for guests to mix and mingle with the show’s designers and models. The show’s student designers and fashion lines were:

The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale Holds Spring Commencement Ceremony The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale Holds Spring Commencement Ceremony

On Thursday, June 16, The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale held its annual spring commencement ceremony at the Fort Lauderdale War Memorial Auditorium. More than 600 family and friends of the graduates celebrated the accomplishments of the newest members of The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale’s alumni community.

Sean De Freitas, who in 1986 earned a Bachelor of Science in Advertising from the school, headlined the event and served as the ceremony’s guest speaker. He advised the graduates to always “follow your dreams.”

In addition to De Freitas, the ceremony featured a special address from Florida House of Representative member Bobby B. DuBose (D - Fort Lauderdale), who spoke about the graduates’ appetite for creativity and how they may soon add to the school’s legacy in the Fort Lauderdale arts community.

Josephine P. Eroline represented the 2016 graduates as the student speaker at the ceremony. Eroline, who earned an Associate of Science in Video Production, commended her fellow graduates for a job well done and wished them luck in their future endeavors.

Fort Lauderdale Culinary Students Get “All Mixed Up” Fort Lauderdale Culinary Students Get “All Mixed Up”

Six culinary students from The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale are competing on Lifetime TV’s popular culinary show “All Mixed Up” and on July 18, 2016, audiences will learn if they won the Season Six finale.

“All Mixed Up,” which airs on Lifetime TV Mondays at 7:30 am Eastern time, features a fast-paced four-episode season. Culinary students compete against up-and-coming chefs to create original recipes using well-known brands while keeping a clean and organized kitchen.

The show is hosted by renowned chef Ralph Pagano, executive chef and director of hospitality at the Solé on the Ocean Resort and Spa in Sunny Isles, Florida. Season Six guest judges include Dee Lennox and Matt Schiering. Eric Schlossberg, professional chef and culinary instructor at The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, is also serving as a judge. In addition to his teaching, Schlossberg works as executive chef at Fit Food Fresh and as owner of Allure Catering and Events.
