On Tues., June 3, Kerry Szymanski, a faculty member in Fashion Merchandising at The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, was featured at a signing and reception for her new book, "Seduce Your Customers." The event took place in the Library on campus.

Kerry says, "Believe it or not, marketing is a lot like dating. In this witty and accessible book, aspiring entrepreneurs will find an innovative new model for marketing success… one that parallels the stages of romantic relationships. Fashioned around the idea of the Dating Lifecycle Curve, "Seduce Your Customers" shows you how to develop highly successful marketing strategies. You'll learn how to attract new customers during the “Love at First Sight” phase; how to avoid an “Affair” or a “One-Night Stand”; and how to live happily ever after in a blissful “Marriage” with your most loyal customers."

"Seduce Your Customers" is available on Amazon.

Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale Students Use Fashion Creativity to Support Breast Cancer Awareness Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale Students Use Fashion Creativity to Support Breast Cancer Awareness

[FORT LAUDERDALE September 25, 2013] This year’s Not My Daughter… find a cure now! signature fashion fundraiser is receiving a fashion boost from students at The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale. As part of this year’s event entertainment, the students will produce and design garments for the fashion presentation showcasing designs specifically created for the event including women’s fashions and children’s wear. In addition, the students, who are all enrolled in the honors program in the Bachelor of Science in either Fashion Merchandising or Fashion Design programs, have designed one-of-a-kind scarves to be sold at the event to help with the fundraising efforts.

The fundraiser, which includes both a fashion show and shopping boutique luncheon, will be at the Marriott Heron Bay located at 11775 Heron Bay Boulevard in Coral Springs and benefits the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation. Tickets and information can be found at notmydaughterfindacurenow.com.

“Not My Daughter is thrilled to be featuring the work of aspiring fashion designers from The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale at our luncheon this year. We can’t wait to see the imaginative, artistic designs created exclusively for Not My Daughter..find a cure now! on the children and models taking part in the program. We know the audience will be amazed by the incredible creations of these talented rising stars,” says Denyse Hostig, founder and chair of Not My Daughter…find a cure now!.

Chrisa Tatakis, who teaches the fashion honors classes at The Art institute of Fort Lauderdale, concurs, “The design students represent the next generation of designers with fresh and beautiful ideas for the future. The colorful, energetic vibe of the designs are inspired by the positive, hopeful message of Not My Daughter…find a cure now!”

The annual luncheon, now in its fourth year, attracts more than 500 attendees and 40 vendor boutiques, all raising funds for breast cancer awareness with proceeds benefiting Susan G. Komen for the Cure. This year’s day-long event will begin at 10 am when guests will have an opportunity to support the cause by purchasing items from the vendor boutiques, followed by the luncheon itself at noon. In addition to the fashion show, guests will enjoy a live musical performance by pop/country group The Lockets, along with contemporary music by DJ Cris Cruz. Guests will also have the opportunity to bid on raffle prizes and high-end silent auction items, as well as receive the famed event goodie bags. Tickets and information can be found at notmydaughterfindacurenow.com.
