Media Arts students from The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale recently completed a series of promotional videos for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County.
The promotional videos were created as part of the Team Media Production course (RTV 4227C), which is designed to provide students with real-world experiences planning, designing, and executing media production projects for actual clients.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward focus their activities into four core youth programs—academic success, healthy lifestyles, teens and workforce development, and good character and citizenship. Each of the videos produced highlights one of these programs and shares information about their value throughout the Broward County community.
The videos were produced over an 11-week period and include footage from and interviews with Boys & Girls Club members and leadership. Ai Fort Lauderdale students from the Team Media course met with Boys & Girls Club leadership throughout the quarter to develop a vision and plan of action for producing the videos. Students planned the schedules, wrote original scripts, filmed staff and member interviews, did location filming, and edited hours of footage adding effects and titles.
The videos were received with much fanfare at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward’s Board of Directors meeting in February. The organization will honor the Ai Fort Lauderdale students at its March 29, 2018 Board meeting taking place at the Fort Lauderdale International Auto Show.
