December 20, 2016
Chris Van Horn, who in 2016 earned a Bachelor of Science in Graphic Design from The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, had his work featured on the back cover of the 2016 Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival (FLIFF) program. Van Horn’s artwork, and the 2016 program, was revealed in a special section of the October 28, 2016 issue of the South Florida Sun Sentinel.
Now in its 31st year, FLIFF has established itself as one of the largest film festivals in the United States and is the only film festival in the Southern US to receive four major grants from The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Spanning two weeks every November, FLIFF features a variety of independent films from around the globe.
Van Horn was present at the FLIFF Opening Night Party on Friday, November 4, 2016 at Hard Rock Live. The event featured the Florida premiere of “Dreamland” and was attended by stars Beverly D’Angelo and Talia Shire who were presented with Lifetime Achievement Awards. Following the screening of “Dreamland,” event goers were treated to a backstage party and meet-and-greet with the film’s director, Robert Schwartzman, along with film stars D’Angelo, Shire, Johnny Simmons, and Robin Thomas.
Van Horn’s design matches the theme of the program’s front cover which features a series of beach chairs, along with a director’s chair, on a white, sandy beach. Van Horn’s poster features a sandcastle in front of an image of a rolling Fort Lauderdale beach with the festival’s home theatre, Savor Cinema, in the foreground.
