On Thursday, June 16, The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale held its annual spring commencement ceremony at the Fort Lauderdale War Memorial Auditorium. More than 600 family and friends of the graduates celebrated the accomplishments of the newest members of The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale’s alumni community.

Sean De Freitas, who in 1986 earned a Bachelor of Science in Advertising from the school, headlined the event and served as the ceremony’s guest speaker. He advised the graduates to always “follow your dreams.”

In addition to De Freitas, the ceremony featured a special address from Florida House of Representative member Bobby B. DuBose (D - Fort Lauderdale), who spoke about the graduates’ appetite for creativity and how they may soon add to the school’s legacy in the Fort Lauderdale arts community.

Josephine P. Eroline represented the 2016 graduates as the student speaker at the ceremony. Eroline, who earned an Associate of Science in Video Production, commended her fellow graduates for a job well done and wished them luck in their future endeavors.
