April 22, 2016
Ruben Ubiera, who in 1996 earned an Associate of Science in Graphic Design from The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, was featured in the April 2016 edition of Gold Coast Fort Lauderdale magazine.
The article, “The Soul of a City,” discusses Ubiera’s new genre of graffiti-based artwork that takes traditional forms of graffiti and transforms them into images and colors that tell a story. The article mentions Ubiera’s childhood in the Dominican Republic as the basis for his new storytelling technique.
Ubiera also discusses the changes taking place in traditional art and the need for conventional galleries to be more open to non-traditional artists.
