Fort Lauderdale Culinary Students Compete in Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale’s Burger Battle VII
June 5, 2016
The International Culinary School at The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, represented by Chef instructor Bernardo Espinel and student volunteers from the student-run Chef’s Palette restaurant, recently took part in Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale’s annual Burger Battle competition.
More than 1,200 people were in attendance to sample gourmet burger creations. Held at Huizenga Plaza in downtown Fort Lauderdale, the event featured several local burger joints and restaurants competing against one another to show off their creative juices and grilling skills.
Chef Espinel created the recipe for The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale’s entry—and the school finished a mere 14 votes out of the top spot. It was cited for having one of the tastiest burgers in the competition.
Burger Battle VII raised funds to support Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale’s mission of building and nurturing a vibrant community connected by the New River. Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the planning, programming, beautification, and promotion of Riverwalk Park.
