Fort Lauderdale Culinary Students Serve up Tasty Bites at “The Obies”

On Friday, May 20, culinary students from The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale volunteered at “The Obies: A Taste of South Florida,” held at the Broward County Convention Center.
Now in its third year, The Obies is a food and wine celebration featuring samplings from more than 30 of South Florida's top restaurants and food purveyors. Chefs and restaurants serve their best bites for a chance to be named the Flavor of South Florida winner.
The culinary students volunteered at various restaurants and had the chance to learn a few tricks and techniques from the participating chefs and culinary executives.
All proceeds from The Obies go toward Make-A-Wish® Southern Florida, Special Olympics Florida, and the Orange Bowl Leadership and Academy. In total, The Obies raised approximately $100,000 for the three charities.
