Interior Design Instructor’s Article Published in “Professional Design” Magazine

Jan Merle, interior design instructor at The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, recently published an article in “Professional Design,” the membership magazine of the Florida South Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID). Her article, “Key Forces Driving Change in Interior Design Education Today," discusses changes that have taken place in the required Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) curriculum required at The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale
Published in the March 2016 edition of the journal, the article discusses changes in the interior design industry and among its practitioners, resulting in the CIDA curriculum. The article also outlines five central themes driving the curriculum changes, including: expanded professional reach, human-centered design, enhanced building performance, urbanization, and globalization.
