Ai and Adopt-A-Classroom Team Up to Donate Much Needed Supplies
April 18, 2017
The Art Institute of California—Hollywood, in Partnership with “Adopt a Classroom,” recently donated to teachers at West Adams Prep High School, Taft High School, John Borroughs High School, and Crenshaw High School. The monetary donation will be used to buy art supplies for the teachers’ classrooms.
According to Adopt a Classroom, more than 15 million children don’t have the resources they need to succeed in school. The organization adds that teachers spend more than $1.6 billion a year stocking their own classrooms due to a lack of funding in schools.
The Art Institute of California—Hollywood’s two high school representatives, Elizabeth Rich and Renee Smith, along with Director of Campus Relations, Maurice Sapp, organized “Pizza and Paint” parties with each of these classrooms to celebrate. West Adams Prep High School Culinary Arts teacher, Anna Redd, said, “It was such a nice day to have you visit the class again. The students really enjoyed the activity and pizza is always a home run! Thank you!!!”
John Burroughs High Art Teacher, Lauren Masters, had this to say, “Just wanted to drop a line and say thank you again for AI's GENEROUS donation to our arts classroom. It was an incredible feeling to be sponsored by such an amazing school! The kids are beyond excited to have a classroom computer- it will help them to do research, look up visual examples for their arts project, and help to facilitate classroom learning. When you emailed me about the sponsorship, the first thing I thought of was a computer for the classroom. I can’t tell you how many times I ask them to draw something, but without a reference photo they really struggle. We don't have color printers, so it will be incredibly helpful to look at color pictures of artists work. The more technology we have in the arts classroom, the more students realize that the arts are worthy of professional grade tools, and need research to be carried about! The fact that AI sponsored us shows the students how important their arts education is because you reached out to us to back us, which says a lot. I am incredibly grateful for your financial support, and still full from the pizza party of the century! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!!”
