(NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA May 3, 2014) – One talented high school filmmaker walked away with a $5,000 scholarship to The Art Institute of California – Hollywood, a campus of Argosy University, as the Best of Show winner at the Los Angeles Student Media Festival on May 3, 2014.

Hosted by L.A. City Councilmember Paul Krekorian, the unique Los Angeles Student Media Festival allows young  filmmakers to tell their stories without adhering to the traditional means of filmmaking. With the proliferation of digital media, young filmmakers are no longer restricted by the old cinematic paradigm. Instead, students are free to tell their stories with a cell phone, a computer and just about anything else that comes to mind.

150 students submitted films, and Luca Joncich of El Camino Real Charter High School received Best of Show for his comedy film “Butter.” Justin Pond, president of The Art Institute of California – Hollywood, joined Paul Krekorian in presenting Luca with the scholarship.
