The classes I took in color theory, lighting, and Photoshop—and of course learning how to critique a photo, illustration, and project—[have helped me in my career]. Oscar Melendez , Site Administrator for Photo Fix it Pro

Site Administrator for Photo Fix it ProOscar Melendez is a site administrator for Photo Fix it Pro. He reviews and critiques incoming photos from photo repair artists and suggest tips on how to repair images. He also awards jobs to artists and requests revisions. Oscar’s workday is very busy, with 20-40 new photo orders arriving that he must process and critique. “As a quality control administrator, I must multi task back and forth to make sure the site is well-balanced with new and old orders.”
He faced a challenge in his position when he had to take calls in Spanish. This led him to create new protocols on how to take in an order and critique photos. “I overcame [the challenge] with practice and asking my co workers how to improve.” Oscar says that his job requires a high level of commitment—and while he’s not at his dream job, he is giving 100% to gain experience that can eventually take him into a new position.
Oscar is excited to have worked on the animation for videos that will be used on the company’s new website. “The impact is definitely huge because I am contributing and shaping the new tutorial looks for employees.” He adds that the compliments he’s received from supervisors motivate him to give his best.
Oscar, who in 2015 earned a Bachelor of Science in Media Arts & Animation from The Art Institute of California—Hollywood, says that his classwork in color theory, lighting, Photoshop—and how to critique a photo, illustration, and project—prepared him for his career. He recommends that current students stay focused and continue learning after graduation.
