Team Art Institute of Houston brought home the award for Best Performance at the April 28, 2017 IIDA Product Runway event, benefitting the Houston Furniture Bank. Product Runway is an avant-garde fashion competition whereby looks are created using standard architectural finish materials such as, glass, tile, carpet and wood.

This year’s overall theme of Cover to Cover brought 22 teams of designers, architects and students from Houston's design firms and schools to compete, each given the title of a work of literature on which to draw inspiration.

With Great Expectations by Charles Dickens as their back-drop five Interior Design BFA students—Imelda Escatell, Natalie Guerrero, Olivia Taylor, Kristina Tribell and Nadia Krotz—worked as a team of designers to create a stunning garment inspired by the character Miss Habersham.

All materials used were donated by McCoy Rockford and Steelecase.
