After Dinner Speech & Etiquette Banquet
February 1, 2018
The event focused on this question, “What would you say if you received your 'dream job' of a lifetime?”
Participating students discussed facing challenges, their most memorable experiences, favorite instructor and/or class and their three successful ingredients for an "outrageous future."
Faculty members Bill Lanigan (Design) and Lionel Hilliard (Media Arts) also attended, as an opportunity for instructors and students to work together on the same platform. They shared struggles, accomplishments and challenges they faced to get them to where they are now.
Our special guests were from Texas Southern University’s Debate Team, including the Head Coach of 68 years, Dr. Thomas F. Freeman, President, Antrechelle Dorsey, Assistant Coaches, Dr. Gloria Roberts and Ms. Sondera Mallory and team members Allen C. Sams III, Angelica Olunkwa and Miguel Gavin.
QEP Coordinator, James Keller, is a former member and assistant coach with the Texas Southern Debate Team. His invitation to the team helped to create a more formal partnership with the hopes of developing a speech and debate team of our own. The Art Institute of Houston students enjoyed an After Dinner Speech by this prestigious team, alongside three current Ai Houston students—Jessica Davis, BFA, Digital Film and Video Production, Sharon Harkless, AAS, Graphic Design and Brenda Brewer, BA, Graphic and Web Design.
Dr. Freeman had the final words of the evening.
1st, 2nd and 3rd place certificates were given in the following order:
• 1st Place - Jessica Davis
• 2nd Place - Antrechelle Dorsey
• 3rd Place - Sharon Harkless
