Award-Winning Filmmaker Hosts Master Class at Ai Houston

The Art Institute of Houston and SWAMP, or the Southwest Alternate Media Project, welcomed award-winning documentary producer Jeffrey Brown to lead a one-day master class for documentary filmmakers of all levels. The course covered an affordable, down-to-earth approach to storytelling, funding, production, post-production, festival strategy, marketing, and distribution. Attendees were also invited to participate in Q&A session and were offered practical tips about the filmmaking process.

Brown has produced a number of award-winning narrative features and feature documentaries in Europe, Africa, and the United States. His works have been shown at international festivals such as Sundance, SXSW, Berlinale, Cannes, IFF Rotterdam, IDFA, New York FF, Tribeca. His films have also been released in cinemas internationally as well as on Netflix, HBO, Showtime, PBS, ESPN, AMC/Sundance Global, Sky Europe, and others. Brown has taught documentary film at the Prague Film School and presented his master class seminar to groups around the globe.

The Master Class in Documentary Filmmaking event was held on Saturday, May 19, 2018, from 9 am - 6 pm at The Art Institute Houston.
