Houston’s Dominick Lee Featured in Chef Chat Series

Lee is the new executive chef of the now open restaurant “Poitin,” located in the Sawyer Yards community of Houston. He previously served as an executive sous chef at Kiran’s Restaurant. Poitin will focus on bold flavors and locally sourced ingredients. The article quotes Lee as stating that “[the patio area of the restaurant] will be relaxed with music and hanging lights.” He plans to grow herbs including lavender and citronella growing in plant boxes.
Lee added that he was inspired to cook by his mother—he began creating dishes for her for mother’s day and later went on to work in restaurants. He said that culinary school was an important step in moving his career forward. “I would have never known that in order to know what kitchen equipment I need, first I had to build a menu. [Culinary school] was vital to my career].”
