Ai Houston Celebrates Wine and Food Week

The Art Institute of Houston recently participated in The Wine Rendezvous Grand Tasting and Showcase presented by HEB and benefitting Touch Base: Center for Deafblind. The event was part of Wine & Food Week at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel & Convention Center.
Ai Houston’s Courses Restaurant and culinary instructor Chef Patrick Guerra, along with a team of culinary students, were among the 60 restaurants invited to compete and showcase their talents for attendees. For the event, Courses Restaurant served risotto with pears and taleggio cheese as well as cured salmon with salmon roe. Also joining the competition was Ai Houston Culinary Arts, AAS, 2015 alum and founder/owner of Fadi’s Mediterranean Grill, Chef Fadi Dimassi. All participating chefs vied for the coveted $5000 cash prize and the Waterford Crystal Chef of Chefs award.
Ai Houston was also represented among the judges at the event, as Culinary Director Chef Steve Griffin and instructor Michael Bargas were two of the esteemed 2018 Wine Rendezvous Culinary judges.
