Was there a defining moment when you knew you were destined to become a creative professional?
Creativity has always oozed from my pores. It’s always been a part of who I am...my natural orientation. I always liked to draw, paint, play music, etc. And when I wasn’t doing it, I was dreaming it.
How do you weave your professional background into the classroom experience?
I take on one or two professional interior design production jobs every year. It helps sharpen my skills, and helps me pass along the latest industry trends to my students.
What’s the most important thing you impart to students to help them succeed in class and the real world?
Never give up. Not every class will be your cup of tea, so do your best in those classes that seem too difficult.
Anything else you’d like to share?
I learn every day—from my students, from my colleagues, and from my own research.
