At the recent Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo World Championship BBQ Contest, culinary students from The International Culinary School at The Art Institute of Houston participated as two teams, the “Lone Star Social Club” and “Extreme Texas Cookers.”

The “Extreme Texas Cookers” earned first place in the brisket competition and third place overall. The event provided students with experience in competition as well as BBQ preparation and presentation, knife skills, customer service, and the importance of time management.

Chef Greg Millo, a member of The Art Institute of Houston faculty, oversaw and coordinated the students’ involvement. Students focusing on media arts also helped to document the event.
